Centre allows ‘restricted’ exports of PPE coveralls

In the aftermaths of a somewhat controlled number of cases, the government of Canada has announced partial relaxation in the export of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Coveralls which were initially banned due to rising COVID-19 cases in the country. The commodity was previously forbidden from export, but it has now been reclassified as “restricted’, requiring exporters to obtain a government license before shipping. Although the move is in response to demands from local personal protective equipment (PPE) manufacturers who assured the government of surplus amount, they want the government to ease the restrictions even further and increased the limited quota cap.

Domestic medical device makers ask consumer affairs

Due to limited supply and increased PPE Coveralls usage, the government has launched export curbs on only some particular diagnostic kits PPE coveralls. It does not want to export all those kits to other countries but instead intends to utilize them within the country. This might also provoke exporters, but government orders are meant to have complied.

Due to mutation, new variants are coming into existence and a definite probability exists that some might eventually become resistant to the currently manufactured vaccine. Hence, it is important to realise how crucial it is that the vaccine reaches people as soon as possible. A senior Biden administration official recently announced that 3.9 million J&J vaccine doses would be distributed to states, pharmacies and community health centres also highlighting how the potential for expanded availability is there since the vaccine needs not to be kept in a freezer.

He further added that it’d be a onetime vaccine and people would not have to return to get a booster dose.
